How to plan your own travel

How to plan your Own Travel

People like to travel but most of the people get scare to travel on their own and reach out to travel agents to buy their existing travel package or get help from travel agents to customise package for them. This kind of travel plan is convenient but may prove costly and also there is no adventure in it. The agent may take you to the famous spots of a location, give you some time to enjoy at that place and so on.

But travel according to me should have no boundries. One should be able to go where thay want, they should be able to take a halt when thay want, have flexibility to spend more time at places they want and omit places which are not as per their choice. No two human beings are same and have same tastes and preferences. Each person has different preferences. A person fond of Art will have more preference to see the architectural marvels, monuments, museums etc. However a nature lover or trekker or an adventure lover will not want to see the museums and will not enjoy the monuments and marvels. They will want to roam free , climb the mountains , enjoy on the beach etc.

Same applies for food during travel. You get a fixed set of menu planned by the travel agent for the entire group unless you have a customised trip however the customised trip proves very costly. So its always better to plan your own travel. This way you get to know more about the place, the locals of that place, the local food and offbeat destinations

To plan on your own you will require to do lots of research, reading about locations, reviews of places, study the map, refer some already existing itenieries of travellers, reserve your own bookings for the journey as well as stay. Trust me it will be too much fun as well as improve your knowledge. involve your family also in this planning task like you can tell your kids to refer the travel map and list places in a particular location. Let them ask any queries they want. They will thus know the names of cities, states, river names etc. Moreover they will also learn which states and cities fall in West side, which on the east, which at North and which on south. It will also teach them the climatic conditions at those place and the reason for such climate. For eg. : North India will be more cold and so on. They will get to know about the important oceans, the State names etc.

This post will provide you some tips and hints by which you can plan your own travel. This is from our own experience of travelling. We have travelled many places on our own.

1) Plan the number of days : The first step for any travel is to plan number of days for travel. So first think of the number of days. Now for this also you will have to think upon your budget, leave from office in case you are working, absense from your business in case you are self employed. In case travelling with kids then you will have to think of their school or colleage absence or plan during holidays.

2) Travel budget : Location to travel, number of days to travel, hotel to select, transport mode will all depend on your budget. If budget is not a constraint, you can need less days to travel since you can travel via air. Also if hight budget then you can plan far off place , hire private vehicle etc. However it all depends. This is one of the factor. Even though one has no budget constraint then too they may plan to travel by train if they have extra days to enjoy. Some people enjoy train journey more rather than flight and so on.

3) Location : Discuss and think on location. One needs to think of number of days they can spare , budget, thier interest etc. while selecting location. Location also depends on the season. Certainly in summers people will prefer cool places and hill stations. Locations involving waterfalls needs to be visited after monsoon. If you travel in early monsoon then waterfall might not be full but immediately after monsoon the view will be more better. Also commuting in heavy rainfall could be challenge. Location also depends on the adventure you plan or like. For trekking you will select hill stations, for water sports select the beach which provides best of these activities. If planning a short weekend break then nearby locations can be preferred

4) Iteniary : Map will help to plan iteniary. select nearby places of interest. check the route map. Explore Google maps, find distance from one place to other

5) Type of holiday : Select type of holiday you want. If you just want to relax select a nice resort with pools and activities within resort.

6) Kid Friendly : If travelling with small kids then preferably travel to nearby places. If kid or any family member has motion sickness then plan holiday with less road journey. Also if kids are small ensure to carry all essentials, extra pair of clothes, kid food etc.

So by planning on all such points, you can have a wonderful holiday.

Happy Holidays
